My idea of fun

its a Saturday evening have pretty much nothing to do. all my daily chores have been taken care of in the morning itself.

i get a call from Mr.x.

x:"hey ,shubham,listen let's go for a movie"

me:"which?"

x:"this movie called fsdfadf which starres xyz and rty.its gonna be killer fun."

me:”and where is this?”

x:”dfwdf” multiplex. its newly built and it looks just fabulous. I hope you are coming.

me:naah man. I have to go somewhere.

x:cmon man, its not everyday that such a movie gets released.

me: sorry dude but I got to go to this place for important work

x:ok then,tc ,cya sometime. You are missing out on all the fun.

I keep the phone down.

I knew I was free.

I knew my friends were going there.

I knew it would have made sense to go there as I had nothing else to do.

But going for movies, eating out in a fancy restaurant, going bowling, playing pool and all other random snobbish sports.

These kind of things are not my idea of having fun. I would rather stay at home and listen to music which takes me away to a different trip.

i have been labelled as boring, serious just because I don't approve of their idea of fun.

So what exactly is my idea of fun?

My idea of fun is going to rock shows. As you must have known by now about my inclination towards music, it would be understandable that I like to go for such shows.

Its always good to check out different artists of different genres and it gives a great pleasure to me in doing so.

the different genres i have been exposed to, is one of the things i take pride in. Its not only rock, but fusion, electronica,IDM,etc. That has caught my attention.

When rock shows are nowhere to be seen, my next idea of having fun is to travel in places we wouldn't have otherwise.

Ever heard of Dahanu?ever heard of khopoli?

I didn't know of them, until last year. I find a great sense of happiness and joy in traveling to places which have never been visited or the places which have been totally neglected by the urban types who prefer to go to Goa,Kerala, and sometimes even foreign locales for a getaway.

Well ,I like Goa and Kerala , but I would like to discover places which are nearby and away from human civilization.

Its a fact that where a humans lives, is a dirty place which once was beautiful. the Humans left no stone unturned in destroying it.

I would love to travel to such places. although sometimes I wish I had my own car so that i would have had no problems in going there.Booking a bus can be such a fuss sometimes.

I had the privilege of going for a trek to this really beautiful waterfall in Nagothane(Maharashtra). The waterfall was so beautiful ,it almost brought tears to my eyes.Nature can be inspiring.

I and my friends had so much fun. I bet I wouldn't be having so much fun anywhere else. the gushing of waterfall, getting drenched in pure water, it was just fabulous. It was a spiritual experience as well.

this is my idea of fun. I don't really enjoy the mall culture fun(bowling, eating out, playing pool and other random things).call me boring, but that's the way i live.

i was getting an opportunity to watch the t20 match that was held in Brabourne stadium,Mumbai. Cricket being one of the things I enjoy watching and playing, it was hard to refuse. But my idea of fun is something which completely deviates from the norm everyone has.

So with a lot of courage, I had to reject it.

I’ll have my kind of fun someday

Peace.

the day i will never forget

23rd October, 2007.The day I will never forget. After 14,900 days of confusion over my future, I have finally decided what really want to do.Graphic design.

Graphic design involves editing pictures, making them more real and attractive using assorted graphic tools. I was always interested in this field, it’s just that it took a little time to make it happen. I have waited 14,900 days to see this day but I’m glad I did.I'm going to be starting with a short term graphics course soon.

The satisfaction i feel today can't beat any other day. I must have not utilized my time in the past .I must have been wasting my time in watching TV, listening to radio and other random things. But on this day, I forgive myself for everything I have done in the past.

Although now I’m raring to go at graphic design ,my main ambition is to be a musician and I’m going to leave no stone unturned to make it possible. I am alive because of music. I owe music everything that I ever had. So music will never die from my soul. It’s going to continue come what may! To be a full time musician needs a lot of courage and support. I have the former but the latter is a completely different story. No one's ready to support me in the latter.

So ,I’m content with graphic design and have taken a vow to support my own dreams.I just want to be on my own and I know I will do it. A lot of friends have been telling me how difficult it will be to go on with this course because my college studies and my course can't go hand in hand. well, all I got to say is, things don't happen, we make them happen and if I want to make it happen, I’m going to do whatever it takes to achieve it.

It’s difficult to lead a life which others prescribe for you. It’s also difficult to lead a life which you prescribe for yourself but is not appreciated by anyone.Sometimes its all about breaking the stereotypes in the society. It’s all about breaking away from the shackles of this society and I’m ready to break it. I'm ready!!!!

an acoustic guitar

An acoustic guitar is a very basic form of a guitar. It is symbolized by a distinct and a unique sound. It is a no hassle instrument which is portable (which will help you have a nice time wherever you are).
As a kid ,I never really valued my acoustic guitar. It was a f-cut acoustic guitar. It looked pretty good when I started out but the same sound bored me.
.The other beginner guitarists I knew of, had better acoustic guitar than mine. I used to play their guitar sometimes, and it used to feel real good. Their guitars were much bigger than mine, the sound was really crisp and the fretboard felt real smooth. I started hating my guitar from that day on. I still continued practicing on my guitar as I had no other option but as they say "it’s only human to want more”, the craving for an electric guitar became stronger day by day. My rock idols I grew up idolizing on television always had an electric guitar around their neck and it seemed much cooler than a wood-made, less attractive, acoustic guitar.
So after 1 and a half years of learning guitar, I finally gave in on an electric guitar. It is a givson electric guitar with a red and black body. It was for only 4k.That's a price people pay for a good acoustic guitar. I never really did much research on the types, brands, etc of electric guitar, so it was pretty easy for me to buy a guitar. With an electric guitar, 2 other things become important: an amplifier and a processor.
Everyone knows what an amplifier is.
A processor is a device which changes the sound of an electric guitar; it can range from the soft rock sound to the heavy metal ear-shattering sound.
I didn't really look into these before buying the guitar. I was without an amp and a processor for most of the part. I used to connect my guitar to the audio speakers of my music device. That would work wonders.
I started playing more on this new guitar and less on my original guitar, but it came to a point when my electric guitar sounded Pretty bland, pretty similar to my acoustic guitar minus the warm sound. It got monotonous. So, after a year since I had bought my guitar, I bought an amp and a processor. I was finally happy about it. After two months of playing with a processor, I got bored of the different sounds it could produce.
The hassles with an electric guitar are endless. All the wiring required must be good, otherwise be ready top have a bad sound full of screeches and blank spaces.
so, I got what I wanted, and I was quite satisfied with it, but I started missing the acoustic sound which could never be replicated by my processor.
i would never be blessed by that sound on my electric guitar.

so, after a while, I just started playing my first guitar, a guitar I had taken for granted, a guitar I had totally denied ever since the arrival of my new one.
So I touch this guitar, full of dust and fungus. But it doesn’t matter; I had suddenly realized the true worth of it.
Around this time I heard a lot of artists who used their acoustic guitars as their main weapon of music.
Artists like John Mayer, Dave Matthews, Travis, Goo Goo Dolls and Dashboard Confessional. The way these artists use their acoustic guitars is totally amazing.
These artists go beyond the usual 2-3 chord rule and discover their instruments to the maximum.

So what is my point exactly? an acoustic guitar is a really good instrument. It’s a masterpiece not to be taken for granted.Althogh it took me a little while; I have fallen in love with its sound: organic, natural, pure, mystifying, and beautiful
An electric guitar has more requirements attached to it .But that's not the case with an acoustic.
To sum it all up, an electric guitar is like a girl who uses all kinds of eye-liners,gloss,powders,(girls help me out with this) to look beautiful but an acoustic guitar is like a plain Jane who doesn't care for the make up. She’s happy with whatever she is.

Take care!

Its just another day

Its just another day.I wake up early in the morning for a morning walk with the music plugged to my ears. The combination of good music and fresh morning air just refreshes me and makes me happy. But everything goes downhill from there.
I,unwillingly, get all dressed up and ready to go for college.I catch a local train only to be pushed by people showering everyone with abuses. As i make my way in the train.I sit at the corner of the seat and I try to sleep but the annoying man next to me just wants to shout and laugh on the mobile like it was his home and a young college kid plays bollywood music at a volume which would just penetrate through your ears and add to your irritation.Anyways ,I reach the station and then college.
In college,I reach just on time for the lectures.I enter the class knowing that this could be harder to sustain. And I am right!!!!its indeed hard to sustain.I keep looking at my watch and I hope that time passes by.I look at my fellow classmates under the fear of the final year also know as TY(Third Year). To them, its the ultimate year and they look dead serious about it.Its almost like i'm attending a jail. Its that serious!!!!!Whatever happened to the wonderful college life that I had imagined:hanging out with friends, going to the college canteen, watching a movie, etc. The youngsters have started behaving like uncles.Anyways, after the lectures ,I attend the practicals in the computer lab and i'm clueless of what to do on the computer. But all thanks to my serious classmates ,I sail through the practicals with minimum effort.I get through the practicals, and I just can't wait to get home.
When I reach home,I breathe a sigh of relief!!!but that relief doesn't last for long.My exams are approaching and I need to slog it out because its my TY!!!!(whatever). So,I sit with my books and start doing what I have always hated. After all the studying I finally go downstairs for a stroll with music plugged to my ears again.
Life downstairs has taken a huge setback.Things were different in the past.My friends were students and would regularly come down for long long hours and we would talk and crack stupid jokes and laugh like the world was gonna end.But now,my friends have succumbed to the pressures of a corporate life. A 9-5 job isn't exacly 9-5.Its now 9-8(or 9-9).Anyways, so now,all I see is a deserted path with a few friends around.Friends who were good friends but now are just freinds due to the reasons best known to them.I guess, people change faster than technology. They make me dwelve into the past when things were hunky dory between all of us and I start missing my corporate friends:-(.But thankfully i'm surrounded with good music in my ears which is enough for me.
I get back home, eat my dinner, and watch a random channel on TV.The reality shows becomes my saviours from the ultra monotonous day I have had so far. After I eat my dinner, its time for a little more of studies. Then at night,I just wish this day gets over soon and I have a better day tomorrow but the days don't work out the way I had expected.I just assume its a bad phase i'm going through and believe in a title of a popular book titled as "tough times don't last, tough people do".I have had enough of these self help books but the title of the book gives me strength to go on.Its time to sleep. Its time to say goodbye to this day.The next morning, its just another day.

bad music,absurd lyrics!help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah i'm back.It feels great to be blogging after a long long time.Well to be honest,I almost forgot about my blog!!!Lots of things have been happening in my life. Some good, mostly bad.During all this time,I have definitely discovered some really good music.I have been listening to a lot of Sigur Ros.For those who dont have any clue about this band,go check them out. They are awesome.I have, lately, been listening to this artist called Sufjan Stevens, and i just can't stop listening to him.Brilliant acoustic stuff!!!!and the lyrics are really good.
Well I have heard some really terrible music too(read:Bollywood Music).Dhinchak danceworthy songs with the same fast beat and absurd lyrics.well, if u don't have a clue of what i'm talking about,i'll just spill the beans for you.
There's a song called "you are my mindblowing mahiya".And my mind has been blowing in a BAD way ever since I heard this song. One more "mahiya" song I just can't bear is the silly song "tu hi hai meraa pyaar mahiyaa"from the movie awarapan(which is a decent soundtrack except for this song).Firstly, the singer of the song needs a lot of improvement and I mean LOTS.
The sad trend that is going on is,mixing english lyrics with hindi lyrics and the end product is disastrous.
Speaking of absurd lyrics,I have heard plenty.
this hugely popular song from the movie PARTNER which goes something liek this "soni de nakhre soney lag de(vadi pau pau pau pau.....)".I mean, where did that pau pau pau come from.It almost seems like the guy suffered from constipation(read:pau pau pau).Painful song indeed!
I could give enough examples of absurd lyrics.

So this really popular song which everyone must have heard of."12ka4 42ka1,my name is lakhan"I mean, wtf!!!!!what a cool way of introducing yourself.wouldn't it be nice if I introduced myself as "12ka4 42ka1 ,my name is Shubham"or someone else introduces himself as"20 2 ka 1 ,1 2 ka 20 ,my name is Bunty!!"
Remember the famous lyrics "ladki hai kya re baba iski adaa re baba uskaa nasha re baba rebaba rebaba rebaba baba baba baba".Arey baba please stop with the baba. Please don't use baba just because you can't find lyrics!!!!!
And some disguisting lyrics from a forgettable Akshay Kumar starrer"sususu aa gayaa main kya karoon".well,I really don't need to know your reasons for urinating. Please go on.And one more song from another Akshay Kumar starrer "baaraah(12) anna de,baraah anna de ,baaraanaa de".Sheesh
Now,finally, let me quote a few lines from the songs of apnaa Himmeshbhai.
"i love u oh sayonee i love u oh sayonee,i love u oh sayonee koi shak?wassup?"
I mean, come on!!we always say "wassup?" when we start a conversation. After that ,if we want to ,we speak about the matters of our heart(read:i love u oh sayonee).I have never met a person who ends a conversation with "wassup?".
I'm sure there's more that can be added to the list. But for now, these are enough. You can suggest some too. That would be good.
Until next time,my blog readers, you are my true mindblowing mahiyaas, tum hi ho mere pyaare mahiyaas:-)

my guitar idols

Every guitarist has his or her own guitar idols. Some vouch for joe satriani's skills, some are totally in love with steve vai. Some just adore the bluesy solos of eric clapton and some just can't get enough of jimi hendrix.

These guitar gods just amaze you by their sheer talent and dedication towards their music. They make you realize the highest potential that a guitar can achieve.

So ladies and gentlemen i presnt to you,my guitar idols

1.Tom morello-When i heard Rage Against The Machine,i was blown away.these guys were a bunch of crazy musicians. But the way Tom Morello used his skills, the wierd sounds he produced from his guitar, man was i amazed or what!!!!!!!his works are the most inspiring for me.mr.morello,you did it for me.

2.Dallas Green--Dallas Green is not that popular in this part of the world(that is India),but he's like a parasite in my mind(and i hope in my other minds as well).Dallas Green is a part of a band known as Alexisonfire,an emo/post hardcore band from USA.Now this guy is really awesome on guitars and his sheer energy is something that sets him apart from others and he sings well too.his side project,City and Colour,is something worth listening to.Armed with just an acoustic guitar, this guy singlehandedly creates magic with City and Colour. He's truly brilliant

3.Mike Eingizer--Mike Einziger is the guitarist of Incubus,an altenative band from USA.this guitarist is one of the most versatile guitarists out there.he's played a lot of genres, funk, metal, alternative.mike is a good mix of rhythm and leads and uses his guitar effects really well.definitely an inspiration.

4.Jonny Greenwood---I must not have heard a lot of radiohead, but whatever I have heard ,I have immensely liked it.and a lot of credit goes to Jonny Greenwood, one of the two guitarists of Radiohead. He uses a lot of guitar effects to create a unique sound and there's no limit to his creativity.I can't explain what he does, just go listen to radiohead if you really want to understand what i'm trying to say. He's too good to be true.

So these are my guitar idols. These are the people who make me want to play the guitar forever.I thank all of you guys from the bottom of my heart.

the power of music

welcome folks.its been a long time since i posted something.but i will try to post regularly.

Anyways, today i shall talk on the power of music.music,as they say, is a universal language.it speaks a thousand words.it makes us smile,it makes us laugh.it makes us remember the memorable moments we lived, the sad moments we wished would just end in a few minutes.your first crush, your first love, your first sense of achievement, the first rains, the betrayal, the anger, the feeling of dejection,i could feel all those feelings through music.somethings are never permanent in life--your job, your girlfriend(or boyfriend),your friends, your choices, your career.but music is the only permanent thing in life.it stays on with you through your tough times, through the times u thought you could never get through.it stays with you when you thought life couldn't be better.the feeling of lonliness disappears as soon as the music is turned on.the mind, which is an amalgamation of tensions of various issues suddenly turns into utopia.

someone said that dog is a man's best friend.yes, that's true, but i wish he(or she) had also mentioned that music can also be a good friend.my mind goes to a different world when i hear music.i feel in my blood,in my veins.it takes me to the place i would just wanna live forever.it takes me away from a world so full of cynicism, betrayal, hypocrisy, double standards, stereotypical thoughts.

if it wasn't for music, this world would be a terrible place to live in.if it wasn't for music, our lives would be meaningless.in the end,all i can say is,give me pain, give me betrayal, give me sadness, give me hope, give me happiness, give me pleasure but never steal the music away.let the music remain forever.for without music, there's no life.
ok that's it my friends tc.cya

vh1 is my saviour

I had been and have been watching vh1 ,and man!!!are they improving or what?MTV unplugged series, headbanger's ball, good music here and there,vh1 classic.vh1 is definitely my favourite channel.
some of the videos i hate nowadays

avril lavigne----girlfriend.yuck yuck yuck!!what's wrong with her?fuckall song with a fuckall hairdo and a fuckall video.total disaster.AVRIL SOLD OUT!!!!

shakira and beyonce knowles video---- i can't even remember the song.the song sucks.the video is watchable but i'm bored of the typical shakira dancing.

some of the videos i do like

daughtry----its not over

i like the song.i just love the power chris daughtry sings with.he's a really good vocalist.i didn't know much about him during his american idol days but i was blown away by the video.awesomeness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wolfmother---woman
classic rock is back in fashion.this song is brilliant!!! especially the outro.they are three piece but still kick so much ass.good stuff!!

some of the programmes i hate :

making of a band----this show is really sad.actually sad would be an understatement.absolute shit.the girls prepare themselves to impress pimp diddy.pimp diddy acts all rude.the girls cry.voila you have a new show!!!!!!ugggggh.........

fabulous life-----i hated this show right from the word go.i still hate it.i have absolutely no interest in how much they(celebs) own, what they do,etc.this show is not my scene.

hip hop hustle---this show might be awesome for some people who are into hip hop.i'm not into hip hop and i absolutely hate this bling- bling-hot chicks--great cars images of hip hop stars.

some of the shows i like :
headbanger's ball----i simply love it.from ill nino to megadeth, from distrubed to anthrax, from sevendust to metallica they play a good mix of numetal,.nuage,thrash,etc.although it is shown very late, its definitely one of my favourites

vh1 storytellers----this show is a gem.brilliant show.green day, coldplay, matchbox 20,tori amos, dave matthews band, etc. are some of the artists i saw on vh1 storytellers and each and every show has been really great.my personal favourite would be coldplay.one humble request to vh1 guys if you are reading this, please show some more new episodes.

vh1 call to greatness----nice show.a bunch of crazy guys who will do anything to break a world record.they break some crazy ,whacky records.ever imagined to throw eggs high u[p and catch them without breaking it?some of the records they try to break.good stuff

and of course,
mtv unplugged--i have grown up watching this program.i have seen staind, live, nirvana, pearl jam, bryan adams, etc on mtv before.its back and i'm really happy.all those childhood days come to my mind when i watch this show.and acoustic instruments have their own feel.a feel that can never be replaced by electronic components of music.

i thank vh1 for saving me from the bollywood crap that has been churning out lately.THANK YOU VH1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my views on education

Education.this word is viewed differently by each and everyone.the parents say its a must, the kids just want it to get over with, the spoilt kids blame the system for it and what not.
but this is my blog,so i will tell you what i feel about it.it is said that education is a must to solve a lot of problems in our country.problems facing our country like dowry, superstitions, untouchability(it exists even today),etc.i think that basic education is a must.education which teaches us what is wrong or right, the education which helps us differentiate between the good and the bad is the real education.education which makes us realize of our rights in a free nation is real education.i ,for one, definitely support such a kind of education.

my views on higher education are completely different.i will tell you my case.i'm not really interested in what i'm doing right now.it was my choice to do this so i have to live with it.i was more interested in music.so,i considered a sound engineering course.but i was very skeptical about the future prospects of the course.and the fact that an experienced sound engineer mentioned that the highest salary you can get in this industry is rs10,000!!!!!!!! per month unless you have your own studio.how in the hell will i survive with that kind of money?
anyways coming back to the topic,i think most of the people view higher education as a medium to earn money and get a respectful bride with equally good qualifications.

now if you are doing it for the money then i must tell you there are much better ways of making money.in my opinion ,earning money by mugging up the useless information in the textbooks is such a bad idea.after mugging up these things, hardly anything out of it is used in the jobs.when you get a job,you start everything from scratch.your education doesn't matter, your skills do.so all the education you got is a waste.

i hate people who judge people on the basis of their marks(read:elderly people of our society).
"x got 98% .he's such a good boy.he's sincere in his studies.he's this that yada yada yada."and "y got 40%.he's interested only in girls.he's a spoilt brat.yada yada yada".i hate such people and such people must totally be avoided.marks will never give you a true picture of a person.if such a case, bill gates would not have failed in his 8th grade.

anyways in the end ,it all depends on what you are gonna do whether you will be doing what you like or doing something in which the money is good.i ,sadly fall in the latter category.

if you do something you like then you won't regret it.
if you do something you don't like but the money is good, then you will end up like me.

think about it.peace .thanks for reading.take care.ciao

emo,what's the buzz all about?

emo is the new in thing in the rock scene.the term emo means emotional.when i first heard about this word,it sounded funny.but when i actually heard some bands of this genre,i knew i was struck with something huge.this kind of music makes me feel invincible.this music makes me energetic ,makes me jump like crazy.i got introduced to emo with a band known as Story Of The Year.i heard until the day i die and i became a SOTY fan.i first thought that SOTY was alternative.but later,i checked on some sites and it mentioned emo screamo.the term sounded funny.anyways, later i started listening to funeral for a friend, saosin, underoath, emery, etc.funeral for a friend is simply kickass.a really good band with kickass songs. Saosin just blew my mind.insane vocals, innovative guitar work and drumming is awesome!!!!!
then i started listening to Emery but emery disappointed me.it was nothing special.but Underoath, they take the genre to the whole new level!!!!!!!!!awesome vocalist and drummer.the screams are just too good.

now a lot of fun has been made about emo fashion, emo culture, etc.as far as fashion is concerned,i really like those typical emo hairstyles.they look really cool and the converse,it makes an ordinary person look really good.but the eyeliners,i wish that was avoided.

as for emo lifestyle, i don't really care for their lifestyle.i just care about the music and if the music is something i really like, then i don't need to care about the lifestyle.music is the sole criteria of judging a genre.

so friends, hating a genre just because of its fashion and its culture doesn't make sense.if you hate the music, then u have all the right to hate the genre.but to judge a genre on the other aspects would be really stupid of you.as for me,nothing like emo

check out bands like Saosin,Underoath,Alexisonfire,Story Of The Year.

the right attitude

guitar!!!
what comes in your mind when you hear this word?an instrument?a way to be cooler?a way to impress chicks(i know you thought about that)?

for me,a guitar was an instrument to play good music.i was always fascinated by the sing- along on-you-acoustic guitar type of music.but i was not so passionate about learning it.my dad encouraged me to play guitar.he explained me that a guitar must be treated as a good friend,a friend who will never betray you.but those words just fell on deaf ears.however, things changed the day i saw a song on mtv.the song is "gunsnroses----patience".that changed it all.that was when i just wanted to grab a guitar and play it no matter how hard it was.so that day itself my encouraging dad and mom bought me a guitar and i joined a guitar class.i used to practice everyday for an hour atleast.after 9 months, i left the guitar class and started doing my own thing and life has been good ever since.i never considered guitar as an instrument to get the chicks ,to become cool or any of that kind of theory.i really sympathize with people who live by the play-guitar--impress--chicks thoery.for all of the people who belong to that category, all i can say is,you might get the chick but to save the relationship, your guitar won't help you.instead try to think of a guitar as a musical instrument which takes your creativity to a whole new level.compose your own songs, write your own songs.treat your guitar like it will save you from all the negatives in life.take your instrument seriously and not treat it as a tool to impress the chicks or be the new cool.

nowadays the song that has caught my attention is
arctic monkeys---brainstorm.
the drumming is just awesome, the song's catchy and the guitar woirk is also cool.
check it out.
thanks for reading.until next time.ciao
